Our growing habits have been impacting our Eco-System for hundreds of years and it has only been recently that we have looked back and realized the damage that we have been causing. Because of this, more regulations are coming into place to protect our Eco-System across the globe and growers are looking for solutions to issues that they had previously turned to pesticides to deal with. By 2018, 50% of pesticides have been banned by governments, and this will continue to increase. How can growers still produce quality products when pathogens are on the rise?
The science behind plants natural defense mechanisms is an incredible thing to study. Even more incredible, we are sitting on a mineral that supports these defense mechanisms, a mineral that makes up 90% of the earths crust- Silicon! While there are countless uses of Silicon, growers have been using it in different forms to help their crops for a long time. The problem? Silicon is a hard mineral for plants to uptake, causing growers to dose high levels in hopes that even a small fraction will be taken up by the crop. Enter Eco Shield.

Eco Shield contains a unique blend of ingredients with plant available silicon in the form of ortho-silicic acid to enhance the tolerance of plants to various abiotic and biotic stresses. While other products are currently on the market, many suffer from low stability and low percentages of silicon, while Eco Shield boasts stability, excellent absorption, and a high percentage of plant available silicon! This natural fertilizer helps crops against stress (including weather, salt, metals) as well as resistance against pathogens and insects. It even improves the uptake of nutrients!
One effect of Eco Shield is preventing fungal infections like mildew. Upon various studies, Eco Shield has shown to lower the amount of mildew found on cucumber crops. Plants dosed with Eco Shield developed a stronger defense against mildew then the control groups (See Knowledge Center for more information).
Upon continuous studies, Eco Shield has also shown to increase the shelf life of fruit, without the use of pesticides and preservatives. Upon a study done on strawberry production (see Knowledge Center), Strawberry plants treated with Eco Shield showed a 3% yield increase then the control group, as well showed a significant increase in the shelf life of the fruit!
